Kids bikes are built to 2 different standards.

Toy Specification
The moving parts - wheels/ steering/ pedals just have bushes (like collars), not ball-bearings. Sometimes they have solid tyres and no free wheel. These are cheaper to make, but we generally do not sell these.

Bicycle Specification
These are built just like an adult bike only smaller. Ball bearings, pneumatic tyres, 2 brakes, etc.

Some of the better kids bikes are now made in aluminium. This keeps the weight down and generally makes the bike much more managable and controllable.
